Full-Time Seasonal Educator

As a Seasonal Educator with FIND Outdoors, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences through leading a variety of educational programs and events. This position requires the skills to engage diverse groups effectively. You will be held to high standards for program quality, community outreach, visitor engagement, and as an ambassador for FIND Outdoors. This role reports to the Chief Education Officer.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Lead and facilitate educational programs and interpretive activities for participants of all ages and group sizes, both indoors and outdoors.
  1. Prepare and guide groups on trails, both paved and natural, using the surrounding forest as a classroom to achieve educational goals.
  2. Record, maintain and share demographic data of visitors and educational program participants.
  1. Collaborate with CEdO to develop and present engaging lesson plans.
  1. Maintain and clean interactive exhibits, conduct data collection, and ensure displays are up to date in all program areas.
  2. Utilize and distribute Natural Inquirer educational materials.
  3. Assist in planning and hosting special events and/or activities at the Cradle.
  4. Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  1. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  1. Strong knowledge and experience in natural history, outdoor recreation, forest ecology, and/or outdoor education.
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  1. Excellent organizational abilities with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting established deadlines.
  2. Physical ability to walk up to four miles daily and lift up to 20 pounds.
  3. Professional and friendly interaction with the public, ensuring a positive image for FIND Outdoors.
  4. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and varying hours, especially during special events such as the Blue Ghost Firefly Tours, which may require evening or weekend shifts.
  5. Creativity in designing engaging educational experiences, along with leadership in guiding and inspiring others.
  6. Dedication to promoting environmental education and outreach.
  7. Prefered: college degree in environmental education or a related field.
