FIND is a 50+-year-old nonprofit headquartered in Pisgah Forest, NC whose mission is to provide all people with education, recreational and interpretive opportunities about natural resources and cultural history. FIND Outdoors serves over 800,000 visitors each year with over 150 educational and recreational programs, special events, and tours, and manages 15 recreations, education, and camping facilities in North Carolina, and Georgia. In addition, FIND offers our visitors forest- related gifts, education resources, and provides partnership opportunities for the health of our forests and the safety of our forest users on public and private lands.

About the Opportunity:

PT Social Media Assistant
We are seeking a creative, organized, and experienced Part-Time Social Media Assistant to join our team as an independent contractor. In this role, you will manage our online presence through content creation, social media engagement, email communications, and website updates. You’ll also collaborate regularly with staff and partners to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication across platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit, schedule, and post content across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Respond to questions, comments, and messages on social media and other communication channels
  • Write and generate original content (captions, posts, emails, etc.) aligned with brand voice
  • Maintain consistent, engaging digital presence
  • Generate and distribute Forest Service newsletters
  • Create and send FIND marketing/communications emails
  • Log and update events and marketing materials on the organization’s website
  • Support marketing campaigns via tools like Mailchimp
  • Attend monthly meetings with Visitor Center and Campground Managers

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms and content scheduling
  • Familiarity with tools like Mailchimp and Google Suite
  • Knowledge of WordPress or similar website CMS
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively

Preferred:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Background in marketing, communications, or public outreach
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing performance metrics

This is a part-time independent contractor position.

Contractor will invoice monthly and is responsible for their own taxes and insurance.

Work schedule is flexible but may include some meetings during business hours.
