Field Operations Assistant

About the Opportunity: 
 
Field Operations Assistant (Full-time, Seasonal*)
Based remotely in North Georgia. 

*This is a seasonal position through November 2026 with potential opportunity for permanent employment based on performance and organizational needs. 

As a Field Operations Assistant with FIND Outdoors, you will support the operations and executive team in management of campgrounds, visitor centers, day use areas, and other public lands. This position requires significant travel in peak season, often in remote areas and overnight. This position will report to the Director of Field Operations. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve in a hands-on capacity to help complete maintenance projects across FIND-managed sites; 
  • At the request of the Director of Field Operations, conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, campsites, and public use areas to identify maintenance or safety concerns.
  • When it is not possible to complete projects internally, assist in coordinating contractors and tradespeople to get the work done in a timely manner; 
  • Provide relief staffing across campgrounds as needed; 
  • Work closely with the field support team to maintain open communication around projects and priorities; 
  • Maintain accurate records, work logs, and project documentation
  • Assist in planning and preparation of documents needed for the US Forest Service and US Army Corps of Engineers;
  • In season, travel extensively throughout FIND sites and support the needs of field staff. Overnight camping may be required. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 
SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Trade skills or strong aptitude for learning them; 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to use software programs (Slack, Google Suite, etc) to organize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge, experience or demonstrated interest in outdoor recreation and public lands management; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting established deadlines.
  • Physical ability to walk up to four miles daily and lift up to 20 pounds. 
  • Professional and friendly interaction with the public, ensuring a positive image for FIND Outdoors.
  • Willingness to obtain necessary industry certifications
  • Up to 50% travel throughout North Carolina and Georgia may be required.
