About the Opportunity:
 Class 1-AD Drinking Water Treatment System Operator and Class 1-D Water Distribution System Operator in Charge for the Gladie Visitor Center
Stanton, Kentucky

 FIND is seeking a firm or an individual (Firm) to act as Operator in Charge and be responsible for operation and reporting of the drinking water treatment system at the Gladie Visitor Center in the Red River Gorge of the Daniel Boone National Forest. The selected firm must hold certifications from the Kentucky Division of Water for Class 1-AD Drinking Water Treatment System Operator and Class 1-D Water Distribution System Operator.

Responsibilities:
Perform work in treatment of raw water using filtration and sodium hypo-chlorite feed system that changes the taste, odor, or chemical content of the water through accomplishment of the following assignments.
  •  Monitors gauges, meters, pumps, filters, chemical feeders, and recording and controlling devices according to a prescribed schedule and performs routine operator maintenance. Adjusts valves and pumps to control and aerate water flow. Performs minor preventative maintenance on chemical feeders, pumping stations, and other equipment.
  •  Performs water treatment tests to check pH level, turbidity, and chloride content. Adds chemical agents to chlorinate water as needed. Makes all adjustment in chemical feed, pump rates, and reservoir elevations based on test results, chemical concentrations, chemical test results, and elevation levels. Will be occasionally required to enter data into a computer database.
  •  Responsible for conducting tests and measurements within prescribed State and Federal standards. Submits Monthly Operator Reports to the Kentucky Division of Water. Receives, checks, records and unloads water treatment chemicals and obtains samples for testing to determine the quality of chemicals.   • Oversees the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of the water distribution system. Lays lines, maps lines, sanitizes/hyper-chlorinates lines, repairs minor leaks, etc.
  • Trains up to four (4) Forest Service Operators in Training in drinking water treatment and distribution to attain experience required for certification.         



Start Date: October 1, 2024
Tent End Date: November 30, 2025
Hourly Rate: $31.00 per hour
Schedule: Up to 20 hours a week
This is a contract administered by FIND Outdoors on behalf of the USFS.


Assumption and Agreements

FIND reserves the right to dismiss any proposal for any reason. The proposal shall include references of businesses with which the firm has worked on similar assignments.

Submittal Requirements

Proposals must be submitted in a .pdf format to Beth@gofindoutdoors.org
Proposals must include the following:
1. Completed Acknowledgement of Terms of the RFP process
2. A firm profile, length of time in business and a description of the firm’s core competencies.
3. Description of the firm’s availability to begin the project in accordance with the schedule (see below).
4. List service fees for the completion of the elements as requested and present the total estimated cost to complete the project, the hourly fees (with number of hours estimated) or flat rates to complete the items listed in the project scope.
5. Three references including the type of work done for each and the date of completion. Please include company name, address, phone number and contact name.
6. A summary explaining why your firm is most qualified.

Selection Process

FIND staff will determine which firm is best qualified to complete the project based on the information requested in the RFP.

Cancellation of Request for letters of interest

FIND reserves the right to cancel this request for professional services at any time, to elect not to award the work listed, to reject any or all of the responses, to waive any informality or irregularity in any response received, and is the sole judge of the merits of the respective responses received.
While FIND intends to award all tasks included in this request for proposals to one firm, FIND also reserves the right to contract any task or portion of this work separately.
