About the Opportunity:

Assistant Site Manager, Brasstown Bald
FIND Outdoors has an exciting opportunity; Assistant Site Manager for Brasstown Bald Recreation Area. Brasstown Bald Recreation Area is comprised of a Visitor’s Center & Museum, 0.6 mile Summit Trail, Picnic Areas, and Country Store.  The recreation area is situated on the summit of the highest mountain in Georgia, surrounded by thousands of acres of public land in the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee--Oconee National Forest.  Brasstown Bald staff welcome on average 100,000 to 110,000 visitors per year to the site.  The Assistant Site Manager’s role will focus on supporting the Manager with day-to-day operational tasks and helping to lead other site staff. He or She must have the requisite skills to function in this position. In the absence of the Site Manager the Assistant Site Manager will be the acting Manager.  The Assistant Site Manager will be held to a high standard for customer service, and act as an ambassador for FIND Outdoors. 

FIND Outdoors is a 50-year-old Non-Profit that manages recreation, education and camping facilities in North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and Indiana. We serve approximately 800,000 visitors each year with over 150 educational and recreational programs, special events, and tours.  We also offer environmental education programs and forest-related merchandise.

The ideal candidate must be a team player who is able to work independently as well as supervise support staff. Enjoying working outside with the public and providing a stellar public land experience for visitors of all ages and backgrounds is a must. Other core job functions include assisting with planning of long and short-term maintenance projects, identification of maintenance needs on grounds, buildings, and equipment. The ASM may be responsible for specific site operations including; shuttle service, museum, and retail sales as directed by the Site Manager.  They must work to assure the safety of visitors and employees. The ideal candidate will have a background in Parks and Recreation, Natural Resource Management or Forest/Wildlife Ecology and a passion for service. 

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in area of Park Management, Natural Resource Management, Recreation or another related field.  Experience may be substituted for educational requirements if past experience and references warrant.
Managerial experience with strong public relations skills is preferred.


  1. Provide excellent customer service to our visitors.
  2. Train and Supervise staff and volunteers while exemplifying the highest standards of moral leadership. 
  3. Operate Park with a business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit that focuses on revenue generation, cost effectiveness, and innovation.
  4. Attend training and apply skills on site. (e.g., Wilderness First Aid, Chainsaw Operator)
  5. Ability to use computer software including but not limited to QuickBooks POS, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  6. Direct and/or perform site maintenance (e.g., cleaning restrooms), improvement projects and park inventories.
  7. Participate and represent FIND Outdoors in a variety of capacities (e.g., public meetings).
  8. Enforce all site and FIND Outdoors policies and procedures while conserving our natural resources and ensuring public safety for our customers and employees.
  9. Other related duties as assigned by the Brasstown Bald Site Manager or COO.
  10. Working on some weekends and holidays will be required.
