FIND Outdoors serves over 800,000 visitors each year with over 150 educational and recreational programs, special events, and tours, and manages 15 recreation, education, and camping facilities in North Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia. In addition, FIND offers our visitors forest- related gifts, education resources, and provides partnership opportunities for the health of our forests and the safety of our forest users on public and private lands.

About the Opportunity:

Staffing Specialist
FIND has an exciting opportunity for a staffing specialist. This individual will manage the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support of our seasonal and full-time staff. He/she will work closely with our management team to ensure a strong and capable team. This position will be part-time (20 hours/week) to start with the potential for future full-time employment.

Type of Employment:  Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Reports To:  President/CEO

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute thoughtful recruitment strategies to attract diverse, talented, and mission-driven candidates for seasonal and permanent positions.
  2. Post job openings on various platforms, including job boards, social media, and industry-specific sites.
  3. Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate with hiring managers to schedule and facilitate finalist interviews.
  4. Manage candidate pipeline and ensure timely communication throughout the hiring process, providing excellent customer service to candidates at every step.
  5. Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, training, and integration into the team. Help develop and maintain onboarding materials and training programs to ensure new employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed.
  6. Coordinate with leadership to identify training needs and implement development programs.
  7. Act as the primary point of contact for staff-related inquiries and support needs.
  8. Forecast staffing needs based on seasonal demand and business growth.
  9. Develop a calendar of performance evaluation timelines to ensure supervisors are regularly offering feedback to direct reports.
  10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records. Ensure all staffing practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  11. Support leadership in mediating critical conversations, promoting a supportive and collaborative work environment.
  12. Champion organizational culture and values, with a commitment to helping make FIND a best-in-class work environment.
  13. Help assess FIND’s benefits and compensation to ensure the organization remains a competitive employer.

Required Skills/Abilities: 
  1.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  2. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  3. Respect for confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly, maintaining trust and privacy.
  4. High level of integrity and commitment to ethical practices, ensuring that staffing matters are handled fairly and in alignment with legal standards and organizational values.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with a diverse team.
  6. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:
  1. Previous experience in recruitment and knowledge of HR laws, regulations and best practices.
  2. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Physical Requirements: 
  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay Range:  $20-23 per hour
